Barry Bannan suggests Carles Gil should get more chances for Aston Villa

Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan was apparently impressed with Carles Gil’s performance at White Hart Lane on Monday.

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Carles Gil should get more chances for Aston Villa.

Gil has been on the books of Premier League outfit Villa since January 2015 when he joined them from Spanish club Valencia.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been largely a peripheral figure at the Villans so far, and Bannan seems to think that he should get more chances.

The former Villa midfielder posted the following message on Twitter during Monday night’s Premier League game between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa at White Hart Lane.

Gil did not the start the encounter and came on as a substitute for Jack Grealish in the 65th minute.

The former Spain Under-21 international attacking midfielder had a 95% pass accuracy, created one chance, put in two crosses, attempted one dribble and made one interception.

Villa lost the match 3-1 in North London and remain at the foot of the Premier League table.
