Arsenal confirm Jeff Reine-Adelaide is in squad for Bayern Munich clash

The Arsenal teenager has been rewarded for his fine showings in training.

Arsenal have announced on their official Twitter account that Jeff Reine-Adelaide will be included in the Champions League squad to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.

The same tweet revealed that Spanish right-back Hector Bellerin will not feature due to injury, so while Mathieu Debuchy will be expected to deputise in Arsenal’s defence, they could yet spring a surprise by bringing Reine-Adelaide off the bench if needs must.

Arsenal defeated the German champions in impressive style in the reverse fixture last month but it will be a whole lot tougher at the Allianz Arena.

Reine-Adelaide is a 17-year-old right winger who can also play as an attacking midfielder if required and he could become the latest in an increasingly long line of promising Arsenal players given their first-team bow in Europe’s elite competition.

That is unlikely to come against Bayern – such is the sheer importance of the match – but the teenager has clearly impressed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger enough to earn a squad place this week.
