Tottenham Hotspur attacker Heung-Min Son is expected to play this week.

Speaking to the Yonhap News Agency, South Korea head coach Uli Stielike has given an update on Heung-Min Son’s fitness, claiming that he is expected to play for Spurs in the Europa League this week.

Speaking after the announcement of South Korea’s international squad, Stielike said: “We heard Son Heung-min is back to full strength with his club, and we expect him to get some action during the week at Europa League.”

This is great news for Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham’s fans, with Son highly impressing at White Hart Lane prior to suffering his injury.

The 23-year-old played just five gams following his move from Bayer Leverkusen, scoring three goals, and acting as a real livewire in the final third.

The impressive summer signing brought an energy and directness to Tottenham’s play which none of the other attacking midfielders can, and although Spurs have been playing well in his absence, there is a sense that the Lilywhites can only improve when Son is back in the side.

The winger was reported to be close to returning from injury, although it was expected that there would be a few more weeks before Son was playing.

However, Stielike has admitted that he has called Son up to his squad, knowing that he will be fit in time for the next international break, with the winger expected to play for Spurs in the Europa League this week.

Tottenham take on Anderlecht on Thursday, looking to get a strong grasp on their qualifying group, and Son’s return will be well greeted by Tottenham fans.
