The former forward has praised the Frenchman for his recent performances, including the 3-0 win over Swansea.
The Frenchman has found himself on the bench this season, with Theo Walcott being used in a central role and impressing, with him so far being preferred ahead of Giroud in the Arsenal attack.
Giroud has impressed from the bench though, as well as when given the chance to start, with him yet again enjoying a find afternoon in the 3-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday.
And Wright commended him for upping his game, saying the rotation with Walcott has made him realise that doing so was a necessity.
“I’m really pleased with the way Olivier Giroud has reacted to the way he’s been in and out [of the side],” he told BreatheSport.
“I think he’s been very professional and he always does a great job. Recently with the rotation with Walcott, has made him realise he needs to step his game up and he’s done that.”
The former forward was also full of praise for the side for securing the win against the Swans after their disappointing defeat in midweek.
The Gunners have been flying of late, but came unstuck in midweek as they crashed out of the Capital One cup courtesy of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
Some had feared that the result could be one that would derail their fine form, but that did not prove to be the case, with Wright labelling the performance against Swansea as fantastic.
“I’m really pleased with the way it went, especially after the result against Sheffield Wednesday,” he added.
“I think the biggest worry was that Arsenal were doing so well leading into that game and it could have derailed them, but the performance against Swansea was fantastic. Now we’ve got a lot of players who are playing well.”
