Tottenham will take on the Villans at White Hart Lane in the Premier League, and former Liverpool star Owen has backed the home team for a narrow win.
“At the time of writing, the away side haven’t appointed a permanent replacement to Tim Sherwood and also haven’t won since the opening day of the season, and went out of the Cup on Wednesday night at Southampton,” the former Manchester United striker wrote on Colossusbets.com. "You just find it hard to see beyond a Tottenham side unbeaten in five home games.
“However, for all their 5-1 win at Bournemouth last week, I think this could be tighter match than the match odds would suggest. Villa’s defensive record isn’t that bad for a bottom side, so I take 1-0.”
Owen has also backed Tottenham striker Harry Kane to score first in the match.
“Spurs are unbeaten since the opening game of the PL season and Harry Kane is beginning to recapture his best form; I suggest we follow the in-form striker,” the former England international striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Kane first goalscorer 29/10”.
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Tottenham will head into Monday night’s game as firm favourites, and it will be a surprise if they fail to pick up all three points.
The North London outfit are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from 10 matches, just four points behind fourth-place Manchester United with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Villa currently find themselves at the foot of the table with just four points from 10 matches.
White Hart Lane is not an easy place to win at, and the Villans will end up disappointed after Monday night’s game is over.
