The Norwegian journalist and former striker has responded to the Leeds head coach's recent press conference.
Steve Evans' characteristically frank approach to football management was evident once again on Monday afternoon.
Indeed, ahead of Leeds United's Championship clash with Cardiff City on Tuesday night, the head coach essentially said that his squad is not fit to play in the division.
Even if he is right, Evans has been as forthright and blunt as ever to say it.
And Norwegian journalist & former Sheffield Wednesday striker Jan Aage Fjortoft has questioned his decision to come out with such a line in front of the press.
Fjortoft took to Twitter and suggested no coach can say something like that and expect to remain in their job for a long time. He then implied Evans knows he won't - because he's working under Massimo Cellino at Leeds.
How can you say things like and keep your job for a long time? Wait....he won't https://t.co/zhO94fUC8r— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) November 2, 2015
Evans on the squad: "I'd be telling a lie if I said the players in this squad fit playing for Leeds United in the Championship." #lufc— Phil Hay (@PhilHayYEP) November 2, 2015
It's only early days but Evans' frankness hasn't brought the best out of his players so far. If anything, confidence is plummeting to a new low with the Scot constantly criticising his players in public.
Leeds will be hugely against the odds when they face Cardiff at Elland Road but all it takes is one good result to build some kind of momentum.
