Danny Higginbotham was impressed with Liverpool’s front three against Chelsea.

Regular BBC Five Live pundit Danny Higginbotham says Liverpool’s decision to start Christian Benteke on the bench at Chelsea was justified by their impressive movement up top, in a post on Twitter.

The Belgium international was fit enough to start at Stamford Bridge and was widely tipped to do so as the club currently undergoes somewhat of an injury crisis in the final third.

Jurgen Klopp, though, instead opted for a front three of Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino despite neither of them being strikers or boasting a particularly good scoring record.

It was a decision which many questioned when the starting line-ups were announced, and after five minutes of the game it looked like being a costly one as Chelsea took the lead.

However, the Reds soon dust themselves down and their movement caused the hosts problems all afternoon, prompting Higginbotham to praise Klopp’s bold decision during the match.

A Coutinho strike saw the Reds equalise in first-half stoppage time and as they dominated the early stages of the second period, Klopp brought on Benteke for James Milner seeking a winner.

It was a decision which allowed the likes of Coutinho and Firmino to drop a little deeper and again it proved an outstanding move at the right time in the match.

Chelsea’s back four were struggling, and Klopp’s side soon capitalised as Coutinho added his second before Benteke got in on the act with just under seven minutes of normal time remaining.

With the camp happy and buoyed by their recent turn of events, there is genuine belief that the Merseysiders can climb the table and break in to the top four at Chelsea’s expense.
