Tottenham morning news: Manolas tracked, Honda link returns and Pochettino keen to tie down Eriksen

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from the Sunday People, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the club’s interested in signing Roma’s Greek international defender Kostas Manolas.

The 24-year-old centre-back has played 55 times for Roma and has also turned out 84 times for AEK Athens and 74 times for Olympiacos Piraeus as well as being capped 21 times for his country.

Manolas has only been in Serie A for 15 months but in that time he is said to have impressed Tottenham enough for them to consider a move, with North London rivals Arsenal also said to be interested.

Spurs are said to be stepping up their scouting missions and it will be interesting to see if they are considering him as a replacement for Federico Fazio if the Argentine moves on.

In other news, Sport Italia is reporting that Tottenham remain interested in AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda.

The Japanese international has barely featured for Milan in recent times, prompting the links to Tottenham to return with a vengeance.

Honda has been capped 73 times for his country but at 29 he is unlikely to be high on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s wish list.

And finally, the Mirror claims Tottenham are set to offer Danish international Christian Eriksen a new contract to ward off potential suitors.

Talks are set to start soon with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino seeing Eriksen as a key player in his squad.
