According to a report in the Sunday People, Premier League duo Everton and Swansea City are considering making a January bid for £4 million-rated Burnley star Michael Keane.
The 22-year-old centre-back has been an impressive performer for Sea Dyche’s side this season, starting all 14 Championship fixtures and averaging 4-1 aerial duels won and 4.6 clearances per match.
The Toffees are always keen to bring in the Championship’s top youngsters and top scout Kevin Reeves is said to have watched him in action and reported back with positive feedback.
“Everton and Swansea are ready to go head-to-head for Burnley defender Michael Keane Roberto Martinez is a big fan and could test the waters with a £4million bid in January,” the report states.
With the Clarets riding high in the Championship and expected to compete for automatic promotion, Keane has a number of potential options at his disposal with Premier league football the resulting outcome.
Joining a club such as Everton would be a big step in his career, though with John Stones, Phil Jagielka and Ramiro Funes Mori in contention he may find it hard to break in to the first-team.
At Swansea, the path to a regular spot may be a little easier as Gary Monk’s men look light in the heart of their defence and lack a young star with the potential to fill Ashley Williams’ boots.
The Swans would give him ample opportunity to improve as a player, though remaining at Turf Moor and helping the club achieve promotion is also an extremely viable and wise option.
