The caretaker boss was full of praise for the Tottenham duo and Spurs' strength in depth.
Villa travel to White Hart Lane looking to secure just their second win of the season, having already lost eight games and finding themselves bottom of the Premier League table.
That run saw Tim Sherwood lose his job, meaning MacDonald is in charge for the trip to London, and he is expecting a tough challenge from Spurs given their squad's strength, praising Harry Kane and Ryan Mason in particular.
“Harry Kane and Ryan Mason are two outstanding talents for them," he told Sky Sport.
"You look at their whole squad. Kyle Walker is an outstanding talent, Danny Rose has been good as well as [Jan] Vertonghen, [Nacer] Chadli, [Erik] Lamela. They have a lot of big names and they could probably pick a couple of very good sides."
Given that much of the attention this summer was on the failure to sign Saido Berahino, it has largely been unnoticed how good a summer Spurs had.
They secured several big signings that have improved their squad, with Toby Alderweireld proving an astute purchase and Son Heung-min looking like a top player already.
Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino has been left with multiple options in his side, with the likes of Mason, who was a key player earlier in the campaign, now struggling to get back into the side as other impress.
That is all good news for Spurs though, with a strong squad sure to be key to any hopes of making it into the top four this season.
