Gary Lineker slams Gerard Deulofeu's dive for Everton but hails great play straight after

The Match of the Day host has had his say on the young Everton winger.

Former Everton striker Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to comment on the Toffees’ winger Gerard Deulofeu’s performance against Sunderland this weekend.

Everton ran out 6-2 winners in a wonderful match courtesy of goals from Deulofeu, Romelu Lukaku an Arouna Kone hat-trick and an own-goal from Sebastian Coates.

Deulofeu left the field after Kone scored Everton’s fifth goal of the afternoon to be replaced by Kevin Mirallas, but before he was substituted the Spaniard put in a wonderful performance.

Lineker was clearly watching, although he was not impressed with an awful dive from the Everton player that his manager Roberto Martinez will no doubt want to coach out of him in time.

“An appalling dive from Deulofeu, followed by a wonderful cross,” Lineker wrote on Twitter. “The good, the bad and the feo.”

The latter means ugly in Spanish and in truth Deulofeu is talented enough not to have to rely on those kinds of tactics to earn an advantage.

With a goal, assists and a sparkling display, the 21-year-old had a day to remember for all the right reasons, but it is worth remembering that he is still very young and he is going to make mistakes; the trick is in not repeating them time and again.
