The defender was keen to praise the squad as a whole following the win over Chelsea.
The Brazilian was arguably the star of the show in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge, as he scored first the equaliser and then the goal that gave his side a 2-1 lead.
The Brazilian had largely been quiet until his equaliser just before the break, and it proved to be a crucial goal as the mental boost of scoring just before the break saw his side dominate in the second half and secure the win.
Coutinho is arguably one of the star men at Anfield and Skrtel says his performance on Saturday shows why he’s such a big player for them.
"The big players show their quality in the games you need them," the defender told Liverpoolfc.com.
"Maybe Philippe didn't play quite as well in the last few games but today he showed his quality and how important he is for this team.”
The defender was also keen to praise the performance of the squad as a whole following Klopp’s first win in the Premier League.
The German has had to deal with a raft of injuries since taking charge, losing Joe Gomez and Danny Ings to long-term injuries, while the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke have struggled to stay fit.
That has afforded some of the squad players the chance to impress, and Skrtel says their performance, as a team was outstanding.
"The performance as a team was outstanding,” he added.
“Every single player [either] on the pitch or on the bench, did everything for the win today. That's why we are very happy. It feels great.”
