West Ham United were brought crashing back down to earth this afternoon as they lost 2-0 away at Watford, just a week after beating Chelsea 2-1 at Upton Park.
This time last week, manager Slaven Bilic was celebrating a superb victory, and it was Andy Carroll who gave him that win with a late goal.
The giant striker was rewarded with a place in West Ham's starting line-up this afternoon, but it's fair to say that things didn't go to plan for Carroll.
He was at fault for the opening goal, giving the ball away inside his own box, which gave Ikechi Anya the chance to set up Odion Ighalo to bundle the ball home from close range.
Ighalo added a second after half-time to seal the win for Watford - and West Ham fans took to Twitter after the game to criticise Carroll.
Many supporters stated that Carroll simply isn't a player that West Ham can base their team on, and he should only be used as an impact substitute - just as he was against Chelsea a week ago.
Fans have called on Bilic to limit Carroll's playing time as a result of his performance today, citing that he doesn't fit in with the counter-attacking style of Bilic.
Here are some of the reactions from Hammers fans after the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Watford this afternoon...
Not completely his fault but when Carroll starts he changes the dynamism of the team. Obvious since last season. #whufc— Ronny Soto (@lern1079) October 31, 2015
Nothing against Carroll, but I dont think he should be starting next week. Hes proven in the last 2 games, hes a great impact sub. #WHUFC— Bradley Fisher (@b_fisher88) October 31, 2015
Carroll's not a starter either, great impact sub for the last 30 but incredibly rarely is he going to threaten for 90. #WHUFC— TJ (@thoamsrjohnson) October 31, 2015
Can't play Carroll upfront on his own no movement into channels and no pace need changes for Everton get back to winning ways #COYI— Billy Wright (@BillyWright5) October 31, 2015
