The most creative player in the Premier League on Saturday was neither Mesut Ozil nor Dimitri Payet.
Usually, that'll come as a surprise. The Arsenal and West Ham United men have been superb in the final third so far this league campaign.
But Newcastle United dominated in that area this time around. Except they didn't have any goals to show for it.
One particular stat sums up their 0-0 draw against Stoke City...
|Chances Created||Minutes Played|
|Kevin De Bruyne||4||73|
Indeed, as Opta data shows, Ayoze Perez created more chances than any other top-flight player on Saturday afternoon. That tells you two things: that the 22-year-old performed brilliantly against Stoke - and that Newcastle didn't take their chances.
Jack Butland was in fine form to deny Steve McClaren's men, as Georginio Wijnaldum also created a further four chances all by himself only for Newcastle to still end up goalless at St James' Park.
It was Perez who stole the show statistically, however, and Newcastle now just need someone who'll put the ball in the back of the net. They managed it six times against a poor Norwich City side but, on this occasion, Stoke - and Butland - proved too resolute.
