The Palace faithful were delighted with the 26-year-old on Saturday afternoon.
Palace's strong start to the season had suffered a minor setback when they lost to both West Ham United and Leicester City.
But the south London side bounced back with a solid clean sheet at the weekend against Manchester United. It could have even been all three points but Alan Pardew's men had to settle for just the one.
And it was no surprise the praise poured in for a Crystal Palace defender after a 0-0 draw. Indeed, Joel Ward was seen by many as an intriguing inclusion against United.
But the 26-year-old delivered a fine defensive performance and supporters took to Twitter to rave about Ward's display.
The Eagles now sit eighth in the Premier League, falling below Liverpool, but a draw with United should give them a springboard ahead of a trip to Anfield, before home clashes against Sunderland and Newcastle United.
As for Manchester United, the questions about their attack continue. But Ward certainly played a part in thwarting them at Selhurst Park...
Joel Ward started, cleared off the line, defended well #cpfc— Jonny Hinton (@HintonJonny) October 31, 2015
Oh how we have missed Ward. MOTM today for me. #cpfc— Scott Whittaker (@ScottAWhittaker) October 31, 2015
Joel Ward , Cabaye, Hennessey, Dann, Delaney, Zaha, Bolasie, all excellent today against Man U #cpfc— Stephen (@sfield3) October 31, 2015
That was a great performance - fully deserved to win. Improvements all over the pitch, and makes a big difference having Ward back. #cpfc— Martyn (@theshepherdsdog) October 31, 2015
