SJK boss Simo Valakari has high praise for Liverpool teenage talent Allan Rodrigues de Souza

Anfield Pitch

The Brazilian teenager has been on loan at the Finnish club.

Liverpool recently showcased some of their top talent during a Capital One Cup tie with Bournemouth as Jurgen Klopp threw Joao Teixeira, Cameron Brannagan and Connor Randall into the first-team mix for the tie.

All three impressed and another young Liverpool talent has also been making the headlines this week, in Finland.

Liverpool snapped up young midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza this summer from Brazilian side Internacional and he immediately began training with the first-team at Melwood.

He was sent out on loan to the Finnish outfit Seinajoen Jalkapallokerho, or SJK for short, in September. At the weekend he helped them win their first ever Finnish title and is now back at Liverpool in training.

Now his coach at SJK has been discussing his future. Simo Valakari, who spent four year spells at Motherwell and Derby County respectively as a player, told Goal.com this week:

“He has huge, unbelievable potential.

“He has big technical ability, a wonderful left foot and the football intelligence to use it. Allan is small, but very strong - he uses his body well and positions himself cleverly. He can pick any pass in a game, and understands space very well.”

"If a player has skill and this, then it is perfect. He came to a totally new environment and with his passion and drive, fitted in so easy. The fact a player with a language barrier can understand exactly how things should be done in training and matches means he is very, very good. He immediately improved the team and helped us win the championship. He has all the qualities to succeed at the top level.”

So Valakari is in no doubt about the future of Allan and there is no doubt that Liverpool feel they have someone a little bit special on their hands.

He is set to head out on loan abroad once again this month, as he is not yet cleared to play in the UK, and teams from across the continent are keen to bring him in.

Hopefully he can have continued success wherever he ends up.
