Former Tottenham defender Dawson has high praise for Dele Alli.
Dawson said: “It’s unbelievable. Where he’s come from, getting MK Dons promoted last year and being one of the best players on the pitch. But for him to now step up in 10 or 11 games in the Premier League, and getting his England cap, it’s a great credit to him, and he’s going to be a real talent for England and Spurs in the future.”
Alli agreed a move to Spurs in January, spending the rest of last campaign on loan with MK Dons, before linking up with his current team over the summer.
Many expected him to train with the first-team, and get the occasional run out in cup competitions, but the 19-year-old has established himself as a key first-team player, and already has made his England debut.
He has played 13 games in all competitions, scoring one goals, and his performances in the Premier League have been exceptional. Playing in both defensive midfield and the number 10 role, Alli has averaged three tackles, 2.6 interceptions and 1.4 clearances per game, while also having an offensive impact.
The youngster registers 1.2 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game, and he is still nowhere near reaching his potential.
Alli has already surpassed what was expected of him this season, and Dawson has admitted that his rise to prominence at a top Premier League side has been unbelievable.
And, luckily for Tottenham fans, Alli is only going to get better and better as the years wear on.
