Can Sunderland follow up their win over Newcastle, and will Steve McClaren's side bounce back?
Paul Merson believes Newcastle United will be back three points clear of Sunderland at the bottom of the table after this weekend.
Sunderland won the Tyne-Wear derby last Sunday 3-0, eradicating a three point gap between the two teams.
Former Premier League midfielder Merson feels Newcastle will bounce back and earn a home win this weekend over 14th placed Stoke City.
He told SkySports he predicts a 2-1 win: "Newcastle are probably sat there now thinking how they lost 3-0 to Sunderland. Even when they went down to 10 men they were the better team.
"Coloccini should never have been sent off, I know it's been rescinded but it's a bit late, Geordies have to stomach that for six months.
"I don't usually go against Stoke but I fancy Newcastle here."
Sam Allardyce's Sunderland travel to Everton this weekend and Merson has called a 2-0 victory for the home team.
He said: "I really don't know how Sunderland won the derby 3-0, it was just unbelievable. With that in mind I see Everton coming out on top in this one, they'll be solid and they'll look to open Sunderland up with the likes of Lukaku."
Everton are in 11th place and have not won in their last three league games, with two losses to Arsenal and Manchester United among them, and will see a home game against Sunderland as an ideal spot to bounce back.
With bottom side Aston Villa not playing until Monday, away to Tottenham Hotspur, both Sunderland and Newcastle have a chance to open the gap away from the currently managerless side.
