Leeds United lost 2-0 to Blackburn on Thursday evening.
Steve Evans entered his home debut as Leeds boss in high spirits, hoping to pick up the first win at Elland Road since the beginning for March.
However, any such hope was quickly destroyed, with Craig Conway netting Blackburn’s opening goal after just 17 seconds.
Any fight Leeds may have shown in the tie died with that goal, and just six minutes later, Rovers had doubled their lead through prolific goal getter Jordan Rhodes.
The Whites managed to somewhat grow into the game after that goal, but Blackburn were the side that threatened consistently, and of Leeds’ eight shots, Tom Adeyemi’s header off the post was the only time Evans’ men really had a chance.
It was a poor display by Leeds, and did little to ease the home pressure on Massimo Cellino and the players. No player could come out the game with any credit, and many of them actually played worse than they have been this season.
One of those players was Sam Byram, who has returned to the starting XI since Evans’ appointment as head coach. He was only being used as a substitute in the latter stages of Uwe Rosler’s reign, and many fans wanted to see him back in the starting selection.
However, he has yet to impress since returning to the starting line-up, and his performance against Blackburn was arguably his worst of the season. He could be blamed for both Blackburn goals, for being caught out of position, and fans openly criticised their 22-year-old academy starlet at the end of the game.
Taking to Twitter, Leeds fans reacted to Byram’s performance v Blackburn, with some supporters suggesting that it will be time to cash in on the full-back before his reputation drops even further.
My 86 year old, 8 stone Grandad would have bullied Sam Byram off of the ball tonight. #lufc— Tom Huffinley (@TomHuffinley) October 29, 2015
What's funny is this summer we were worried about losing byram now people are struggling to find reasons for him to stay #lufc— Kirky (@kirky0110) October 29, 2015
Sam Byram must be out the door. What a shambles of a football player. #LUFC— Kyle Brookes (@KyleLeedsFan) October 29, 2015
Maybe we should cash out on Byram, Mowatt and Cook rather than build a team round em, at least two of em look like they cba 1/2 #lufc— Ryan Teasdale (@easy_teasy) October 29, 2015
Whether it's form, attitude, head turned or just not that good I don't know but Byram is so poor #lufc— Nick Jones (@njls1010_LUFC) October 29, 2015

This is as bad as I've seen. Embarrassing. Byram is a shadow of what he once was. Other than Cook the rest are substandard #lufc— Stephen McAllister (@steviemac79) October 29, 2015
