The Brazilian will be at Chelsea until 2019.
It has certainly been a rough time for reigning champions Chelsea this season. The Blues have failed to live up to their performances of last term and are currently faltering in the Premier League and were dumped out of the Capital One Cup by Stoke City on penalties.
So the fans were in need of a reason to be cheerful.
That seemed to come yesterday in the form of a new deal for one of the club's stalwarts.
Chelsea have handed Brazilian midfielder Ramires a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2010 and has made nearly 250 appearances for the club since. He has signed a new deal until 2019, which would mean he is 32 when his contract expires.
Ramires is most famous for his incredible lobbed goal against Barcelona in the Champions League on their way toward an historic triumph in the competition back in 2012.
He has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League in his time at Chelsea and their goal of the season award in both 2011 and 2012.
Chelsea fans were certainly pleased with the deal on Twitter...

Pleased for Ramires, works his tail off, struggles with consistency, but a valuable player, ideal due to his versatility #cfc— Jack Rathborn (@JackRathborn) October 29, 2015
Pleased about Ramires. Under valued player in my opinion, does a job and never hear him moan. Played his part in last 5 years— Adam (@Adamlilley18) October 29, 2015
