Bayern Munich aiming to match Tottenham Hotspur's 1960-61 heroes

The Bundesliga side are looking to win their 11th consecutive match at the start of the season.

Despite their recent defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League many a football fan would still tell you that Bayern Munich remain the best team in European football at this moment in time.

Managed by Pep Guardiola and containing world-class talent such as Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Arjen Robben, it is easy to see why you might come to that conclusion.

Tonight they in fact have a chance to equal a record for Europe's five major leagues. Only one team from said leagues has ever won their opening 11 games of a domestic season - that team was Tottenham Hotspur.

Bayern go into their tie with Eintracht Frankfurt knowing that a win will draw them equal with the Tottenham Hotspur team of 1960-61 and within a game of making the greatest ever start to a top flight season in a major European league.

That Tottenham team contained legends such as Danny Blanchflower, Bobby Smith and Ron Henry and went on to win the FA Cup and First Division title that year.

Bayern Munich will be hoping to do similar, starting with a win over Frankfurt tonight.
