Ayoze Perez has, in the Chronicle, urged his Newcastle United teammates to start putting balls into the box more frequently.
Perez’s partnership with Aleksandar Mitrovic up top for the Magpies has shown signs of promise in recent weeks.
And the Spanish striker has promised that with more service, they will both become regular goalscorers for the struggling Magpies.
“We feel comfortable when we play together,” he said.
“If we get balls into the box we’ll get many goals.
“Mitro is a very good player, we have a good understanding, we need to take advantage of it.”
Perez and Mitrovic compliment each other well, given their two contrasting styles, and their ease at working together has been one of few positives for Newcastle to take over the early part of the campaign.
Although the partnership is still in its infancy, it has threatened defences and Steve McClaren will be hoping that it continues to develop as the season progress.
The Magpies are in dire need of adding more goals to their game, as they have struggled to hit the back of the net throughout the campaign so far.
Although Newcastle hit Norwich City for six in their only win of the season, the side have only scored six goals in their nine other Premier League matches, and they need to start adding more of a cutting edge to their play if they are to climb the table and edge themselves clear of trouble.
