Tottenham youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers agreed a contract extension yesterday.

Spurs tied down the future of talented defender Cameron Carter-Vickers yesterday, as the 17-year-old agreed a contract extension with the North London club, as confirmed by the official club website.

The centre-back, a USA Under-23 international, has signed a new contract which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2018.

He has yet to play for Tottenham’s first-team, but is a regular at Under-21 level, often captaining the side despite being four years younger than many of his teammates.

He has six games and one goal to his name in the Under-21 Premier League this season, and is commonly regarded as the best talent in Tottenham’s current academy system.

Many fans want to see Carter-Vickers start fighting for his chance in the senior set-up this season, and are hoping to see Mauricio Pochettino give him a chance in the Europa League or FA Cup.

Following the confirmation of his new deal, Tottenham fans took to Twitter to praise the club for tying down Carter-Vickers at White Hart Lane, and suggesting that he should be given a chance this season.
