Indeed, the midfielder impressed as the visitors went 2-0 up within six minutes to extend Leeds' winless run at home.
But he feels Evans can pull it round in Yorkshire, having worked with the manager while on loan at Rotherham.
Lawrence told Sky Sports immediately after full-time: "When I was at Rotherham, he did really well. I’m sure he can turn it around."
Evans is already in a tricky position, however. Owner Massimo Cellino clearly isn't in the mood to wait around for managers to do well and the new Leeds boss hasn't been able to muster a win during his first three matches despite giving it quite a lot of talk in his pre-match press conferences.
After the Blackburn loss, Evans was also highly critical of his players. It's exactly what the Leeds players need to hear - but the 53-year-old (his birthday is today) waging war on his squad may not end too well.
Uwe Rosler was too 'nice' and soft. But could Evans be too hard on his squad? At the moment, there seems no right answer when it comes to getting the Yorkshire side going.
