According to a report in the Chronicle, a number of Football League clubs are chasing Newcastle United’s Ivan Toney.
The young forward has made an impressive start to life at St. James’ Park, but there is a feeling that Newcastle could allow him to leave on loan.
The Magpies are keen for Toney to get regular football, as he looks to continue his development.
Although the 19-year-old has been given a few chances in Newcastle’s first-team, he is unlikely to become a regular starter at any point this term.
And, as a result, the club could allow him to leave on a temporary basis, to ensure that he gets a taste of competitive action.
Toney is used to playing regularly, having been in Northampton Town’s first-team for the past two seasons, and his quality has already been shown in the Football League.
Teams from the Championship and League One are now starting to show an interest in recruiting Toney, with a number of scouts in attendance at Newcastle’s latest development match against Derby County.
