The Liverpool defender scored just the seventh goal of his professional career.
Liverpool won their first game under the management of Jurgen Klopp yesterday as they advanced to the Capital One Cup quarter-finals with a 1-0 home win against Bournemouth at Anfield.
It was a tight affair in which Klopp decided to throw plenty of young players into the mix for a taste of first-team action.
Cameron Brannagan, Connor Randall and Joao Teixeira all started the game, but it was one of the first-team regulars who scored the Liverpool goal. Although, he was certainly not a player many would have bet on finding the net.
Nathaniel Clyne grabbed the winning goal, putting the ball into the net after Teixeira's imaginative effort had failed to breach.
It was a poacher's finish from the player, who was playing at left-back for the game.
It was also his first for the club since joining from Southampton in the summer and he seemed chuffed on Twitter earlier today:
Clyne does not score many, hitting the net just six times in his professional career before last night.
Now he is in seventh heaven and will hope to add to that tally whenever he can for Liverpool.
