A win is a win, and it was Jurgen Klopp's first taste of victory as Liverpool manager last night as a solitary goal from Nathaniel Clyne ensured the Reds set up a quarter final meeting with Southampton in the League Cup as the edged out Bournemouth at Anfield.
Klopp made several changes from the weekend's Premier League draw with Southampton which saw three players handed their full debuts and Adam Bogdan got a rare start in goal ahead of Simon Mignolet, and took his opportunity with both hands.
Joao Carlos Teixeira played a big role in the build-up to the goal as his cheeky backheel was cleared off the line before it fell to Clyne to give the Reds an early lead. Roberto Firmino largely impressed while Connor Randall and Cameron Brannagan both made their first starts for the club.
Jordon Ibe showed improvement in his form while Clyne was filling in at left-back, and seemed to relish the challenge of playing on the opposite flank.
After three consecutive draws, there will be an element of relief going into a huge Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
