Fernando Forestieri has made an excellent initial impression at Sheffield Wednesday since joining this summer.
The Owls were very busy in the summer transfer window, as they brought in a host of new players to bolster their options.
And the additions have helped to considerably improve the quality of the squad at Hillsborough.
Wednesday have gone unbeaten through their last nine matches in all competitions, and the signing of Fernando Forestieri has particularly impressed Prutton.
“It's the players that he's added. You look at Fernando Forestieri, and he probably knew Sheffield Wednesday as a club, but they wouldn't have been on his radar [before this season],” Prutton who used to represent for Wednesday during his playing career, said.
“He now provides them with that magic dust that adds to the players that they already have."
He also went on to praise the recent addition of Gary Hooper, who has joined Wednesday on loan from Norwich City on loan until January.
“It's a great signing,” he added. “He can help the likes of Lucas Joao and he's a different player to [Atdhe] Nuhiu.
“They did need a goalscorer to get to that next level, and in Hooper they have a striker who is noted for his goals at this level.”
Hooper’s arrival at Wednesday has helped to raise optimism levels further at Hillsborough, with talk of a promotion push starting to grow in intensity.
The former Celtic striker’s first match could come this weekend, when the Owls take on Nottingham Forest.
Victory in that contest will carry Wednesday ever closer to the play-off places, with a top-six finish now the target for all connected with the club.
