Confirmed: Aston Villa prospect Janoi Donacien joins Newport County on loan

The promising central defender has been sent out to gain experience.

Aston Villa youngster Janoi Donacien has joined Newport Country on a two-month load deal, as confirmed by the club’s official site.

The 21-year old re-joins John Sheridan’s side after spending time there in September – following a spell at Wycombe Wanderers in August – and will look to build on his productive period at Rodney Parade.

Donacien was part of the Villa squad that travelled to Portugal for pre-season this summer but given the ample options in central defence, it was deemed best he gain experience elsewhere.

He joins a Country side currently struggling in League Two – just two places off the bottom – and will hope to add more solidity to the the Exiles' backline.

Villa’s own defensive problems have been plain to see this season and a solid spell away from Villa Park could give him a real chance of pushing for a first-team place next season – whether that’s in the Premier League or the Championship remains to be seen.
