HITC Sport understands that a man who parted company with Rangers over the summer is attracting plenty of interest from England.

Marius Zaliukas is in line for a return to English football with a number of Championship clubs looking to land his signature, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential deal.

The 31-year-old central defender is currently a free agent after leaving Rangers in the summer, and he has held talks with a number of sides.

Now HITC Sport understands that the Lithuanian international looks set to head back south of the border.

Zaliukas spent a season with Leeds United before joining Rangers last summer, but he is set for a return to England, with the Championship his likely destination.

Rotherham United, Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End and League One side Sheffield United are understood to be among those keen on landing him.

Zaliukas first arrived in Britain in 2006 when he joined Hearts from FBK Kaunas.

He made over 200 appearances for the Edinburgh-based side before leaving for Elland Road in 2013.
