Celtic fans react on Twitter to Leigh Griffiths' display against Hearts

The pacey striker was on top form to ensure Celtic's progression in the League Cup.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths was the star of the show as the Hoops booked their place in the Quarter Finals of the Scottish League Cup with a win over Hearts last night.

The Edinburgh club were stubborn in defence and kept Ronny Deila’s men at bay until the 70th minute when Griffiths produced a moment of real quality to break the deadlock.

Picking the ball just outside the Hearts’ box, Griffiths burst away from one defender, nutmegged another and then opened up his body to cooly slot past Neil Alexander.

The 25-year old was also instrumental in Celtic’s second after his powerful, driven run and cross was turned in by a clever flick from close range from substitute Tom Rogic.

The win ensures Celtic continue to fight on all fronts this season and the form of Griffiths will give Deila’s team a chance against anyone.

His goalscoring record since his arrival in January last year has been immense – averaging more than a goal every other game with 41 in 76 appearances - and the Celtic faithful are eager to see what else is to come from the diminutive forward.

Reaction to Griffiths’ performance was in plentiful supply on Twitter and below is a selection of the best:
