Leeds United take on Blackburn Rovers on Thursday evening, looking for their first home win of the season.
Botaka missed Leeds' match against Bolton Wanderers through illness, and Evans says that he still needs to be assessed to gauge his fitness levels, ahead of tomorrow night's match.
“Is he 100 per cent? We’ll have another look at him today," he said. “He’s had a mild form of tonsillitis and we all know what comes with that – it’s not so nice. “He came in and trained on Monday and we’ll have a little look ahead of tomorrow.”
Botaka has been a bright spark for Leeds since joining, with his early appearances exciting supporters.
The Dutch winger may still be adapting to playing in the Championship, but his skill in possession and willingness to run at defenders has excited the Elland Road crowd.
Another player who Leeds fans are looking forward to seeing return to first-team action is Tommaso Bianchi.
Bianchi has not played for Leeds this season, with injury having kept him sidelined, but he played for the Whites' under-21 side in midweek and Evans has been encouraged by the central midfielder's progress.
“He’s been out for a few months and we’re having to manage it,” he added. “He hasn’t been on the training ground a lot. “But he’s into the matches now after playing for the U21s and he’s on a two-day recovery. He came through Monday’s game and he’s on the road to recovery, which is good.”
