Everton came from behind to defeat Norwich City on Tuesday evening in the League Cup.
Sebastien Bassong gave Alex Neil’s men the lead, before Leon Osman tied the game mid-way through the second half. The deadlock could not be broken again before the end of the 90 minutes, and an inability to also score in extra time saw the game head to a penalty shoot out.
And it was Everton who came away with victory, and passage to the League Cup quarter finals, after scoring all of their spot kicks and seeing Norwich miss two.
Joel Robles was the hero of the game, pulling off some impressive saves during open play, as well as saving one of the two missed penalties.
The victory means Roberto Martinez’s men are in just their second League Cup quarter final for 27 year, whilst meaning Norwich are now on a run of four defeats in all competitions - three Premier League games and this League Cup game.
The draw for the quarter final of the League Cup takes place this evening, with Everton finding out their next opponents in the competition following the ending of the four ties that take place later today.
