Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is enjoying a sensational start to the season and his form is attracting attention.
The 28-year-old has 10 goals this season and is on a hot streak, netting in each of his last seven matches.
With Liverpool recently losing Danny Ings for the season to injury and Divock Origi appearing not to be ready for Premier League football, Vardy could be a smart addition for the Reds.
The Reds though have recently been stung before buying players in similar circumstances, and Vardy is unlikely to come cheap.
Just last summer they bought Rickie Lambert after a strong season at Southampton, but he was unable to hold down a place in the side and the lack of regular football made him a shadow of the player he was at the Saints.
It would be somewhat underwhelming if the first signing of former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp's reign at Anfield was Jamie Vardy, but this season you cannot argue with his goals record; and if he could continue his form at Liverpool, he might just become the difference maker between making the top four or not.
The rumours have brought about a mixed reaction from fans, here is a look at what Reds supporters had to say via Twitter...
Imagine a striker partnership between Vardy & Benteke . Wow . #LFC— Zaid Shahin (@Dr_ZaidShahin) October 26, 2015
Jamie Vardy is in incredible form but he's not of the quality required of a Liverpool player. I hope the rumours aren't true. #LFC— Liam Bekker (@LiamBekker) October 26, 2015
as good as vardy has been - its terrifying that I’m seeing links to #lfc— Rich (@R1chJ) October 26, 2015
Please don't sign J Vardy. The British players in the team have add nothing to the team. He may just be a one season player. #lfc— kLOPP4THEKOP (@Cjdlegend) October 26, 2015
Jamie Vardy would be good signing for us in Jan suits Klopps style #LFC— Major Blaser (@louisblaser) October 26, 2015
Jamie Vardy is a good player but taking him to Liverpool would be a gamble. #LFC— LFC TALK (@Reynolds99Jake) October 26, 2015
