Kenny Jackett on Wolverhampton Wanderers' transfer business

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett is hoping to have new players in his squad before this weekend.

Kenny Jackett has told Wolverhampton Wanderers' official website that the club are in discussions to sign new players on loan.

Wolves are determined to add further quality to their squad, after a poor start to their season, with defensive recruits high on Jackett's wishlist.

And the Midlands club have already started to make enquiries, as they seek to strengthen their ranks before their next league match against Birmingham City on Saturday.

“We’ve made lots of enquiries over the weekend and we’ll see who we can bring in," he said.

“We have different targets and both Jez Moxey and Kevin Thelwell have been working away and will continue to do our best to try to remedy the situation.

“Defensively, we do need options with the injuries that we have.

“We have to try to bring players in because the goals against column is too high, we need to address that and we’re looking to use the loan market to address that by the weekend.

Wolves have been handed some cruel injury blows so far this season, and have struggled to cope with the volume of players they have on the treatment table.

With Nouha Dicko and a number of key defenders sidelined through injury, Wolves have been left short on numbers and have failed to live up to expectations.

The Midlands club narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season, and they were tipped by many to be one of the contenders for promotion again this time around.

However, the side seems to have regressed over the summer, and Wolves are already nine points behind the top-six, meaning they have a lot of ground to make up if they are to have a chance of stepping back up to the Premier League.
