West Ham United co-chairman David Gold congratulates Mauro Zarate on Twitter for scoring 100 goals

West Ham United striker Mauro Zarate scored during the side's 2-1 win over Chelsea.

David Gold has congratulated West Ham United striker Mauro Zarate on Twitter, after the Argentine netted his 100th career goal at the weekend.

Zarate scored West Ham's first goal in their 2-1 victory over Chelsea, and by doing so he completed a milestone achievement.

Zarate's strike against Chelsea sent the Hammers on their way to a hugely impressive victory over their London rivals.

Slaven Bilic's side were pegged back when Gary Cahill hit an equaliser, but a late goal from Andy Carroll would provide them with the three points.

The win lifted them up to third place in the Premier League table, and ensured that they continued their memorable opening to the new campaign.

Zarate's turnaround at the club has been remarkable under Bilic, as he seemed to be on his way out towards the back end of last season.

Sam Allardyce loaned Zarate out to Queens Park Rangers when he was in charge, but Bilic has bought the 28-year-old back into first-team contention and been rewarded for his faith.

Zarate has already scored four times this term, and he will be looking to take his career total to well beyond the 100 mark by the end of the campaign.
