The incredible stat which illustrates Leicester star’s brilliance, and Villa’s woes

Leicester City

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy can’t stop scoring.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy’s latest goal against Crystal Palace was his 10th of the campaign, more than the entire Aston Villa team combined.

The recent capped England international has been of the great success stories of this season and last, having only joined the Foxes from non-league side Fleetwood Town in 2012.

After helping his current employers achieve promotion from the Championship and later preserve their Premier League status against all odds, Vardy is well on his way to becoming a club hero.

In ten Premier League fixtures this season, he has scored ten goals including at least one in his last seven consecutive matches – a run placing him alongside the Premier League’s greatest ever scorers.

While Vardy and Leicester are currently in dreamland, the same can’t be said of fellow Midlands outfit Aston Villa as they sit bottom of the table and manager-less after sacking Tim Sherwood.

There have been a number of underlying problems for Villa’s struggle this season, yet one of the more obvious facets is their inability to score goals.

Jamie Vardy 10 10
Aston Villa 9 10

The Villains have notched just nine goals all season – one less than Vardy and 11 less than all the Leicester players combined.

Sherwood bemoaned the sale of Christian Benteke more than once, and ultimately the club have failed to deal with the Belgium international’s absence and the loss of goals which went with him.

Villa’s next manager has a huge task on his hands to turn their fortunes around. Villa sit bottom with just four points, they’re drained of confidence and there is a real lack of goal threat within their ranks.

With games against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Everton on the horizon, somebody is going to have one of a tricky start ahead of them in turning the tide.
