Cardiff City loanee Sammy Ameobi missed a glorious chance to score a winner last night, fluffing his effort in comical fashion.
The 23-year-old was on as a substitute and was put through on goal late in the game, but contrived to miss the target from just three yards out.
Ameobi has only one goal in 12 appearances for Cardiff since leaving Newcastle United on loan, with that solitary strike coming back in August in a 1-0 win over Wolves.
Somewhat remarkably his older brother Shola Ameobi has already tied his season tally despite playing only one game - netting on his Bolton debut against Leeds on Saturday, after signing a contract only one day earlier.
Sammy Ameobi's miss last night was costly with the game ending 0-0. Cardiff are in eighth place but a win would have taken them up to seventh, and just two points off an automatic promotion spot.
The Newcastle loanee does have two assists to his credit this season in addition to his goal, but he has started just one of the last five games.
A goal could have helped earn him a recall to the line-up, but as it is he now has to try and regain the trust of his manager.
Cardiff fans on Twitter were dumbfounded at his late miss, with Newcastle supporters also expressing their views...
