Everton supporters have been left disappointed with the news that Phil Jagielka is set to miss the next nine weeks of action.
Jagielka picked up a knee injury against Arsenal, and he could be set for a protracted period on the sidelines, as he looks to return to fitness.
The news is a major blow for Everton, with Jagielka proving to be one of their most reliable performers over the campaign so far.
Jagielka's experience has been pivotal in his partnership with John Stones, and the England international will be missed by Roberto Martinez's side.
However, Everton supporters are fairly confident that they will be able to cope without their captain, as they have been impressed by Ramiro Funes Mori's displays to date.
Mori was snapped up by Everton during the summer transfer window, and he has largely been used as back-up so far.
When the Argentine has taken to the field he has impressed, though, and Everton fans are hoping that he can continue to prove his worth over the coming weeks. Here is the best reaction on social media site Twitter.
Jagielka injury shouldn't worry #Everton too much - Mori stepped up to the plate when Stones was out and should be able to fill Jags' boots.— George Hartrey (@georgehartrey) October 26, 2015
Huge blow for Everton losing Jagielka for 2 months but they have good backup. Mori's been comfortable when called upon but the big (1/2)— Christopher Coughlin (@ccoughlinsport) October 26, 2015
Gutted about jagielka! one of our best players this season! Big chance for Mori now! #EFC— Jack Reynolds (@reynolds16_) October 26, 2015
Jagielka out for 8/9 weeks. Will be a big miss but be interesting to see a partnership of Stones & Funes Mori, looks like it could do well.— Ghedin1878 (@Ghedin1878) October 26, 2015
So Jagielka out for minimum of two months. Big chance for Mori now. When will we catch a break on the injury front?— Patrick Boyland (@Paddy_Boyland) October 26, 2015
Jagielka could be out for eight to nine weeks. Ramiro Funes Mori is an able deputy. He's a baller. Looks very, very good. #EFC— Ell Bretland (@EllBretland) October 26, 2015
Gutting about Jagielka being out for 8-9 weeks, hopefully a speedy recovery! Funes Mori has been quality though!— Molly Harrison (@MollyOHarrison) October 26, 2015
Hopefully Mori can step up in Jagielka's absence but leaves us vulnerable to any other injuries. #EFC— Kenny Jarvis (@KennyJarvisEFC) October 26, 2015
