Here is a look at three free agent alternatives for Leeds United to consider to Luciano Becchio.
Leeds United fell victim at the weekend to the instant impact made by Shola Ameobi at Bolton.
The former Newcastle United striker netted on his debut just a day after signing for the club having been a free agent.
Leeds are light in attack beyond Mirco Antenucci and Chris Wood, and while former hero Luciano Becchio is one option, he is currently doing rehab on an injury and there are other options to consider.
Here are three alternatives for the Whites to consider...
Ricardo Vaz Te
Ricardo Vaz Te is tried and tested in the Championship, scoring 12 goals for West Ham in their promotion campaign in 2011/12. He spent much of the early part of his career with Bolton, before a spell with Barnsley. The 29-year-old is currently on trial with Premier League side Bournemouth so Leeds would have to act quickly to secure him.
30-year-old Georgios Samaras is a free agent after his release from West Brom in the summer. The Greek scored more than 50 goals north of the border with Celtic, and has recently been training with New York Cosmos. He is a workhorse up front who has experience playing in major tournaments and would not be daunted by the pressure of the Elland Road crowd.
Romanian international Ciprian Marica was released by Turkish side Konyaspor earlier this month and is searching for a new club. The 30-year-old has 25 international games to his name and has played for Shakhar Donetsk, Stuttgart and Schalke. Just two years ago The Metro linked with with a move to Arsenal.
