Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny kept up his superb run of form as his side climbed to the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 victory over Everton.
The France international defender has been at the top of his game of late, starring in the victory over Watford before winning his personal duel with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in midweek.
Everton were also going to pose questions of the Gunners’ backline, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku providing a real physical presence and Ross Barkley technical brilliance through the middle.
However, in spite of a few scary moments, Arsenal coped with the Toffees threat well and Koscienly in particular put in another commanding performance.

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, the former Lorient man contributed in a number of key areas.
Koscielny posted two aerial winners, four interceptions, five effective clearances, five defensive duel winners and a remarkable 12 ball recoveries.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and of course Koscielny set the Gunners on their way, yet Ross Barkley pulled one back for the visitors and offered plenty of hope for the second half.
Roberto Martinez’s men weren’t intent on leaving the Emirates without a point, and the hosts’ backline had to stand firm as they came under siege to a barrage of late attacks.
Lukaku and Gerard Deulofeu could have perhaps forced a draw, yet Arsenal had for the most part defended well throughout and were worthy winners come the fulltime whistle.
