Report: Remi Garde in pole position to take over from Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa

The former Lyon manager is in talks with Villa.

Earlier today Aston Villa officially let Tim Sherwood leave the club.

The Villans have lost six Premier League games on the bounce and are now bottom of the Premier League table after Sunderland defeated Newcastle United in the Tyne-Wear derby.

Since Sherwood was sacked a plethora of names have been mentioned as a possible replacement for the former Spurs man. The likes of Brendan Rodgers, David Moyes and Garry Monk all mentioned.

However, according to reports in France the club have already made their choice and are in advanced talks with Remi Garde.

L'Equipe is reporting that Villa have made contact with the former Arsenal player and Lyon manager about becoming the new Villa boss.

It is a move that would make some sense regarding the French recruitment the club have done this summer and Garde would certainly be able to win over the Francophone players who have been drafted in throughout the summer.

Garde has been working as a TV pundit in France since leaving Lyon in 2014 and won the Coupe de France during his time in charge at the Stade Gerland.
