Indeed, Kaboul has struggled since moving to the Stadium of Light after leaving Tottenham Hotspur over the summer.
But the 29-year-old impressed many during the Wear-Tyne derby as Sunderland ran out 3-0 winners.
And Muamba was left especially impressed, suggesting this was the defender's best performance in a red and white shirt since his move.

So is Sam Allardyce finally sorting Kaboul out?
The Sunderland defender enjoyed a strong outing against former side Spurs earlier this season but has, apart from that, looked well short of the requisite standard for a Premier League centre-back.
Many have argued the Frenchman will improve with fitness and match practice. That may have been the case against Newcastle - but Allardyce coming in and sorting the 29-year-old has likely had a far more prominent impact. There's also the small consideration that Steve McClaren's men aren't the toughest of opposition...
