Fabrice Muamba reacts on Twitter to Younes Kaboul's performance v Newcastle

The former Premier League midfielder was full of praise for the Sunderland defender after the Wear-Tyne derby.

Fabrice Muamba believes Younes Kaboul delivered his best performance in a Sunderland shirt against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, Kaboul has struggled since moving to the Stadium of Light after leaving Tottenham Hotspur over the summer.

But the 29-year-old impressed many during the Wear-Tyne derby as Sunderland ran out 3-0 winners.

And Muamba was left especially impressed, suggesting this was the defender's best performance in a red and white shirt since his move.

So is Sam Allardyce finally sorting Kaboul out?

The Sunderland defender enjoyed a strong outing against former side Spurs earlier this season but has, apart from that, looked well short of the requisite standard for a Premier League centre-back.

Many have argued the Frenchman will improve with fitness and match practice. That may have been the case against Newcastle - but Allardyce coming in and sorting the 29-year-old has likely had a far more prominent impact. There's also the small consideration that Steve McClaren's men aren't the toughest of opposition...

Six in a row for the Black Cats against the Magpies, then. When will the derby-day misery end for Newcastle?
