The Celtic boss has been discussing the 32-year-old midfielder.
The experienced midfielder was the subject of controversy on Thursday night after being substituted by the Norwegian against Molde.
That came during a 3-1 defeat in the Europa League and Commons reacted by ranting at the Celtic coaching staff.
The Bhoys midfielder responded by apologising to the club on Friday afternoon and delivered a strong performance against United on Sunday, scoring two goals.
And Deila praised the way Commons performed in response to the controversial incident, particularly lauding his second goal.
RD on @kcommons15 “He was good along with the team today and he scored two good goals, especially the second one." (MH)— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) October 25, 2015
Meanwhile, the Norwegian also joked about the hug Commons gave him when he came off against Dundee United.
RD on being hugged by @kcommons15 after the player was subbed: That’s good, I like hugs. I’m happy for him and the whole team." (MH)— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) October 25, 2015
Despite the good vibes, though, the Norwegian insists the amount of games Celtic have coming up justified his decision to once again substitute the 32-year-old.
The switch was far less controversial than the one against Molde...
RD on taking off @kcommons15: “Everybody knows we have more games coming this week, need to save players when we can. " (MH)— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) October 25, 2015
The hard work has only just begun for Celtic, however, with a Scottish League Cup quarter-final against Hearts coming up on Wednesday night.
