Garth Crooks selected three West Ham stars in his Team of the Week.
BBC pundit Garth Crooks has insisted West Ham must keep James Tomkins in the team if they are to continue their success.
Slaven Bilic's side are up to third in the Premier League table after beating Chelsea 2-1, ahead of Manchester United on goal difference.
Crooks selected three West Ham players in his BBC team of the week, picking Aaron Cresswell, Dmitri Payet, and reserving special praise for Tomkins.
He said: "We all love to play in the big games but that's enough to give any defender sleepless nights.
"Tomkins didn't just handle the situation for the Hammers, he was outstanding, and if Bilic, who is proving to be a massive hit at West Ham, is serious about continuing this run of form, he should give Tomkins a run in the side. I think he's earned it."
The 26-year-old was partnering James Collins in central defence, with Winston Reid out with a back injury.
Tomkins won more interceptions that any other Hammers player (4), and the same number as the rest of the defence did combined.
His three tackles was also higher than any other member of the West Ham backline, also matching James Collins by making five clearances.
Tomkins has now started the last seven consecutive games for the club, and is doing a lot to justify the faith Slaven Bilic is showing in him.
