Angry Trevor Sinclair reacts on Twitter to Sherwood sacking, hopes Villa go down

Tim Sherwood Press Conference 12/02/2014

The sacked Aston Villa manager has some backing from ex-players.

BBC pundit Trevor Sinclair has reacted angrily on Twitter to Tim Sherwood's sacking at Aston Villa and says he 'wouldn't be too upset' if the club were now relegated.

Sinclair has branded Sherwood's sacking 'clueless' but there is certainly an air of ex-players sticking together and ignoring the facts with this one...

Meanwhile, another BBC man gave his view on Twitter in John Hartson.

Again, however, 'pundit' Hartson has ignored the facts. Sure, Sherwood achieved a lot in the short term at Aston Villa and he certainly lost three of his best players.

Did that make Villa's squad worse than any other in the Premier League, though? And did losing Christian Benteke etc excuse Sherwood's poor tactics, playing only one central midfielder in his must-win game and dropping his best player in Jordan Amavi?

Yes, the Aston Villa boss succeeded in the short term, because that's all he's capable of. He's a man who came in, gave everyone at the club the kick they needed to stay up. But long term? Tactics? Sherwood will never be good enough in that sense.
