Sheffield Wednesday star Kieran Lee was instrumental yet again on Friday night as his side beat Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United 2-1 in a gripping encounter at the New York Stadium.
The 27-year-old versatile midfielder is an unassuming figure in the Owls line-up, having featured on a regular basis since joining the club from Oldham Athletic in 2012.
While never really stamping his authority on matches, Lee does possess a rare talent on the ball and his ability to control proceedings is now evident among better players.
Fernando Forestieri was magnificent and will rightfully earn the plaudits on the back of Wednesday’s win, yet the real unsung hero of the night was his teammate Lee.

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, the former Manchester United youngster was absolutely everywhere and contributed in a number of key categories.
Lee was assured in possession and posted an impressive 50 touches and 23 accurate passes, with his 85.2% completion rate the best of any outfield player on the pitch.
But arguably more impressive was his ability to shield his back four, illustrated by his two ball recoveries, four tackles, four interceptions and whopping 10 defensive duel winners.
The Owls took a commanding lead through early second-half strikes from Forestieri and Lucas Joao, yet their ability to see out the win is what is making fellow Championship observers sit up and take notice.
Writing on social networking site Twitter at full-time, Wednesday supporters were naturally pleased with the outcome of their encounter and made a note of Lee’s ever-growing influence.
Kieron Lee turning into such a good player. Really comfortable on the ball and doesn't give it away. Lovely player to watch #swfc— Matthew Robinson (@matrobSWFC) October 23, 2015
