Terry McDermott reacts on Twitter to Carroll performance, suggests Euro 2016 beckons

High praise for the West Ham striker after his winner against Chelsea.

Former England man Terry McDermott says West Ham United striker Andy Carroll 'has to' go to Euro 2016 if he stays fit.

Indeed, the 26-year-old headed home West Ham's winner against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, coming on as a second-half substitute and scoring to seal a 2-1 win at Upton Park.

And McDermott has lavished praise on Carroll, who he feels will give the Three Lions something 'totally different.'

He took to Twitter in delight after the target man's goal against Chelsea and tipped him to make the European finals:

So is McDermott right?

One thing working against the West Ham forward is the variety of options already available up top for England. Jamie Vardy is the Premier League's top scorer and has made history by netting during his last seven consecutive league games. Theo Walcott, Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney also appear shoo-ins.

Danny Welbeck is an option, while Daniel Sturridge would be a starter were he fit.

Carroll, though, certainly offers a different dimension. Ask any West Ham fan and they'd probably love him going to the Euros. But Roy Hodgson doesn't seem to be as fond of the Hammers!
