Chris Sutton unbothered by Commons rant... because Bobo Balde did much worse

The former Celtic striker has been discussing the 32-year-old's outburst during the Europa League.

Chris Sutton says he is not bothered by Kris Commons 'losing his rag' after being substituted during Celtic's 3-1 defeat to Molde in the Europa League on Thursday night, according to the Daily Record.

And Sutton says Bobo Balde did much worse during his time at Parkhead. Indeed, Balde once sent assistant manager John Robertson flying over a treatment table, according to the former Celtic striker.

As such, he is more concerned by Ronny Deila's poor decision to take Commons off...

Sutton told the Record: "Commons losing his rag or players having disagreements in the dressing-room doesn’t bother me.

"I’ve seen Bobo Balde send assistant manager John Robertson flying over a treatment table in the melee as he was trying to get to Stilyan [Petrov] at the other end of the dressing room, so I know that’s just part of the game.

"What people should be more worried about is the decision making which led to the outburst."

Sutton's allegiance in this case is clear, then. The former Celtic striker is very much in Commons' corner.

The 32-year-old has apologised to boss Deila and things will likely move on and be forgotten about.

But many fans share Sutton's view. Plenty feel Commons was right to express his frustration and, while the midfielder may refrain from doing so in the future, the poor substitutions and performance levels that initially enraged him may well continue.

Dundee United are the opponents for the Bhoys later today. More important, though, will be how Celtic respond against Molde again, as well as Ajax and Fenerbahce in their last three Europa League group games.
