Dimitri Payet was once again influential during West Ham United’s victory over Chelsea.

Former Tottenham Hotspur youth team coach Clive Allen admits he’s a fan of West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet, highlighting his ability to consistently unlock defences on BBC Radio Five Live.

The Hammers continued their amazing opening to the 2015/16 campaign with yet another victory over one of the so-called bigger clubs on Saturday, defeating Chelsea 2-1 at a buoyant Boleyn Ground.

While Dimitri Payet didn’t get on the scoresheet, the France international was still heavily involved as he drove the Hammers forward and played a number of key passes in the final third.

Co-commentating on BBC Radio Five Live, Allen couldn’t hide his admiration for the former Marseille man and stated that he has the ability to consistently make things happen for West Ham.

“Dimitri Payet is clearly full of confidence if he's shooting from that distance! I like him as a player because he makes West Ham tick. He can always find a clever pass,” Allen said in the early stages.

And approaching halftime, he added: “Dimitri Payet has been the star performer so far. Every time he gets on the ball it looks like something will happen for West Ham.”

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, Payet contributed to a number of West Ham attacks and his sheer presence in the final third caused the Blues to panic on more than one occasion.

The 28-year-old took four shots, added two key passes and made two successful take-ons.

Moreover, in possession he was comfortable throughout and also contributed when his team were under attack, making an impressive five ball recoveries.

The victory lifts West Ham momentarily up to second in the Premier League table, just one point behind leaders Manchester City.
